Property Description

Located in an exceptional environment protected from any nuisance, this prestigious complex includes a castle partly classified as an M.H. And partly Ismh, a Romanesque chapel classified as an M.H., a gîte composed of two dwellings, several outbuildings and a caretaker's house, all in the heart of a 14.40 ha estate crossed by the Sioule river.

The castle, built in the thirteenth or fourteenth century, was remodelled in the fifteenth and then in the seventeenth. In 1653, the famous academician and painter in ordinary to the King, Isaac Moillon, decorated two alcove rooms on the ground floor of the castle.

Facing east-west, it develops approximately 495 m² of living space.

On the ground floor, the entrance is through a beautiful door with an ogival tympanum surmounted by a shield with the arms of the Marquis de Longueil:

– A large living room of 73.03 m² crossing east-west. Ismh Gothic monumental fireplace;

– A dining room of 27.85 m². On the two painted ceilings are depicted Justice and Sunrise. The richly carved and painted fireplace is surmounted by a trumeau representing Esther imploring her husband, the Persian king Ahasuerus, to protect the Jews, admitting to him that she herself is Jewish. It symbolizes the instrument to prevent the destruction of the Jewish people, to protect them and to ensure their peace;

– A small living room or office of 29.10 m². On the ceiling, a rich decoration depicts victory in the center and the four virtues on the spandrels. Above the seventeenth-century fireplace, the trumeau represents Porcia: wife of Brutus whom she thinks dead, she commits suicide by swallowing burning thistles. Her death is an example of fidelity to her husband;

– A library of 26.32 m². Woodwork and eighteenth-century stone fireplace;

– A small office of 5.28 m²;

– A fitted kitchen of 27.02 m². Barrel vaulted ceiling. Monumental fireplace of rare scale under an extremely low arch;

– A vaulted corridor with a pointed arch of 11.02 m²;

– In the basement, a toilet of 3.83 m² with washbasin.

Access to the upper floors is via a wide stone spiral staircase.

On the first floor: five bedrooms, two bathrooms and two shower rooms.

On the second floor: two bedrooms, a bathroom and a shower room. Above: a bedroom.

Three attics of 77 m², 81 m² and 17 m² under a superb barrel frame, entirely pegged, probably from the fifteenth century.

In the basement, four cellars and the boiler room.

The listed elements of the castle are the dining room and the small living room with their painted decorations. The Ismh elements of the castle are the facades and roofs, the two Gothic fireplaces and a seventeenth-century fireplace in the small living room. Under certain conditions, the work is tax deductible and may be eligible for subsidies.

Oil central heating with Chappée boiler from 2004.

The individual sanitation consists of a septic tank to the south and two septic tanks to the north with two grease traps, to be brought up to standard.

On the banks of the river, a tower from the thirteenth vestige of the old fortress includes a room of 17 m² on the ground floor and the same upstairs.

Older than the castle, the chapel, which was originally a church, was built on an old sanctuary prior to the eleventh century and transformed in the twelfth, erected near a ford of the Sioule. It consists of an apse and two apsidioles vaulted in cul-de-four and a rectangular nave traced in the golden ratio. In the choir, an exceptional set of Romanesque and Carolingian sculpted capitals in perfect condition.

The listed elements of the chapel are the choir, the apse and its two apsidioles. The Ismh elements are the remains of the nave. Under certain conditions, the work is tax deductible and may be eligible for subsidies.

Away from the castle and at the entrance to the estate, the outbuildings form a square courtyard.

The old dairy was transformed into a large 295 m² gîte in the 90s. Facing east-west and it offers two dwellings of 231 m² and 63 m² in perfect condition.

Central heating connected to that of the caretaker's house. The individual sanitation consists of a common all-water tank with the caretaker's house with grease trap, to be brought up to standard.

The caretaker's house borders the property: its south façade overlooks the road and its north façade overlooks the courtyard of the outbuildings. On the courtyard level, it offers a garage of 73 m², two cellars and a boiler room. Upstairs, an 87 m² apartment.

A final building offers a 10 m² bicycle room to the north and five garages of about 17 m² each and sanitary facilities to the south.

At the extreme east of the park, on the banks of the river, a small house includes a small house and the swimming pool room. The swimming pool is heated and is 12 metres by 6 metres. It needs to be renovated.

The entire estate benefits from the classification as a Znieff (Natural Area of Ecological Fauna and Floristic Interest) and is not subject to any nuisance. It extends over 14 ha 40 to 8 ca…
