Mont St Michel is just 25 mins away and the beaches just 5 mins beyond, so ideal for day trips.  The popular market towns of Fougères, Avranches, St James and Vire are all also within easy reach.  Fougères has a particularly lovely lake with beach and the train stations at Avranches, Vire, Vitré, Flers and Laval all have train services to Paris that can get you to the capital in around 2.5 hours.  The Caen ferry port is a 1hr 15 min drive and airports at Dinard and Rennes are about an hours away.
