Property Description

This comfortable family home sits in private woodland between the towns of Lectoure and Condom in SW France.  The region is known for its excellent food, clear, warm summers but chilly winters.  However, the eco-heating system makes sure the house is warm and cosy throughout the year.

The property has a real sense of space with large bedrooms and living areas.  There is a self-contained gîte, which can extend the accommodation for visiting friends or family, or be used as as a source of income.  The outbuildings are ideal for hobbies or as workshops.  The wood-burning stove has been linked to the gas central heating system, all supplemented by solar panels.  One’s own source of wood makes this an extremely energy-efficent operation.

Condom and Lectoure were once notable centres of pilgrimage but more recently have started to attract tourists.  Condom is a centre for the production of Armagnac.  It has a delightful medieval street, good shops and a weekly market on Wednesdays.  Lectoure is a neo-classical hilltop town, with lovely old convents and half timbered houses.  The views are breath-taking and on a clear day you can see the Pyrénées.  If you miss the Wednesday market in Condom there is one on a Friday in Lectoure where you can pick up cheeses, olives, fresh vegetables and wine.

There are 4 international airports in the vicinity.  Toulouse is probably the closest (90 kms), but Lourdes, Bergerac and Bordeaux are only a little further.  The train station is 50kms.
