Market day in Mirepoix is on a Monday.  Shopping should definitely include a coffee and croissant in one of the outdoor terraced cafes, and exploring the narrow streets lined traditional half-timbered medieval buildings.  It’s an easy hour’s drive to Carcassonne, famous for its citadel and fortifications. A day out there should include La Cavayere Lake, a leisure complex, which is good for swimming, water sports, cycling, walking and picnics.
