Both offer a wide variety of amenities including shops, post office and many lively bars and restaurants. Riberac and Chalais with their famous weekly markets are both 9kms away and the World Heritage Site and wine region of St Emillion is just over half an hour's drive away. Chalais also has good rail connections to Bordeaux and Angouleme ( world famous for the Circuit des Remparts in September) with links to the New high speed 2 hr TGV direct line to Paris. The airports of Bordeaux/and Bergerac are 1.15hrs away.
