Guide to Electricity in France
Tuesday 03 February 2009
We are pleased today to release our Guide to Electricity in France.
In the Guide, we provide summary information on how to go about opening a new electricity account for your home in France, and how to obtain a new electricity supply if it is a new or renovated home without an existing supply.
We take you through the electricity tariffs that apply in France. You will find that the cost of electricity in France is not excessive, in large measure because prices from the main electricity supplier EDF are regulated.
We provide an overview of what you can expect to find on your electricity bill, as well information on the different ways you can go about paying the bill.
If you get into financial difficulties, or you are on a low income, we provide information on the forms of assistance that are available.
If you want to change your electricity supplier, we tell you how to go about doing so, although we would caution people about moving away from EDF, the main French electricity supplier, at least for the time being.
Finally, we also provide information on how you can go about making a complaint if you are not satisfied with the service you are receiving from your electricity supplier.
