Guide to Buying French Property at Auction
Wednesday 01 August 2007
The sale of properties through auction is not a widespread practice in France, accounting for less than 2% of all sales.
Neither is the process commercialised in the same way as it is in the UK, as estate agents and auction houses are not permitted to sell in this manner.
Whilst bargains can be found, you have fewer rights available than through a private sale, and it is rarely used for the purchase of second homes.
Nevertheless, auctions can provide very interesting property investment opportunities for those who have the time and courage to participate, so cannot be entirely disregarded.
You can read about the whole process at Guide to Buying Property at Auction.
