8.6. Building Guarantees in France
The builder is obliged to provide two building guarantees.
A guarantee that the dwelling will be actually be completed, as well as a ten year building guarantee against defects.
The guarantees are expensive for the builder, but their cost will be included in the total construction price, so it is you who will pay for them!
There is widespread abuse of the requirement to take out building guarantees, so do not assume that they will automatically be in place.
