Grand Est Property Guide
Formed in 2015 following the amalgamation of three administrative regions, Alsace, Champagne-Ardenne and Lorraine, the region of Grand Est is found in the north-east of France, and it borders the countries of Belgium, Luxembourg, Germany and Switzerland.
Grand Est is the fifth largest administrative region in France, covering an area of 57,433 km2 (22,175 miles2), and is the 6th largest region by population with over 5.5 million inhabitants as of 2021.
The west of the region comprises the departments of Ardennes (08), Aube (10), Marne (51), Haute-Marne (52) which constituted the former region of Champagne-Ardenne. In the centre of the region are the departments of Meurthe-et-Moselle (54), Meuse (55), Moselle (57), Vosges (88) which previously formed the region of Lorraine. Finally the east side of the region comprises the departments of the former region of Alsace; Bas-Rhin (67), Haut-Rhin (68).
