Grants and Loans for University Students in France
Tuesday 04 September 2012
Resident foreign university students in France can obtain a range of grants and loans to finance their studies.
The system of student financial support in France is broadly similar to that in the UK and most other countries, with a range grants and loans available on a means tested basis.
However, one stark difference is that the level of tuition fees is also very low, around several hundred euros a year in a public university.
If you do not wish to attend university in France, but prefer instead to return to the UK to do your studies, then British students are also entitled to the same grants and loans available to other British nationals.
You can read more about the system of financial support in France, as well as more information on the entitlement of French resident students returning to the UK in our Guide to Student Financial Support.
