Housing Rental Market in France 2015
Tuesday 05 April 2016
Rent levels for different sized property in the main towns and cities in France for 2015.
Each year the housing rental observatory ‘Clameur’ (Connaître les Loyers et Analyser les Marchés sur les Espaces Urbains et Rurau), based at the University of Paris, publishes a review of the housing rental market in France.
The review covers over 90% of the lettings for unfurnished properties let on an annual basis. Holiday and furnished lettings are not part of the survey.
Clameur report that in 2015 rents fell by an average of 1.1%, to an average national rent of €12.50m2.
On a regional level the highest rents were in the Ile-de-France (€19.10m2), whilst the lowest were in Limousin (€8.60m2).
The table below shows the average rents per m2 for 1 bed to 4 bed properties in the major towns and cities of the country. The number in brackets is the administrative number for the department.
Rents within these towns and cities will vary by geographic area, so the information should only be used as a general guide.
As can be seen, the larger the property the lower the rental per m2. On a national level, 1 bedroom properties averaged €16.50m2, whilst it was under €9.60m2 for a 4 bed property.
We have not listed the percentage movements in the year for each town or city, as they are very variable by size/type of property and area.
However, if you wish any further particular information on the changes or rent levels in a town not listed drop us a line at [email protected].
