10.3. Parent Associations in France
The main parent associations in France are:
FCPE - Fédération des conseils de parents d'élèves des écoles publiques – an association that has its origins in maternity and primary schools, but now also has representation in secondary schools. The association is politically to the left of the other associations.
PEEP - Fédération des Parents d’Elèves de l’Enseignement Public – the oldest of the associations that had its origins in secondary schools, but now also represented in all schools and universities.
FNAPE – Fédération nationale des associations de parents d'élèves de l'enseignement public – mainly of interest to those with children in a vocational Lycée.
UNAAPE - L’Union Nationale, les Unions Départementales, Académique et Régionales – a small and strictly non-political association of autonomous parent bodies.
UNAPEL - L'union nationale des associations de parents d'élèves de l'enseignement libre – for parents of children in private schools.
